Everton: Fabrizio Romano reveals Richarlison transfer intentions

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Everton forward Richarlison is now ‘open’ to a Goodison Park exit this summer after the player admitted that he’s already held talks with the hierarchy surrounding his future at the club.

The Lowdown: Richarlison makes transfer confession

The Brazilian first arrived on Merseyside in a staggering £50m deal from fellow Premier League rivals Watford four years ago, where he has gone on to become one of the most influential players in this Toffees side, having made 67 goal contributions in just 152 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

The 25-year-old was already linked with a move away from Frank Lampard’s outfit earlier this season, but after him and his Velasco Sport Group signed with CAA Base agency, Romano claimed that the striker was fully focused on helping Everton beat the drop.

However, during an interview GloboEsporte, the 34-cap international has now revealed that he has held behind-scenes discussions with his manager, Farhad Moshiri and co about his future.

The Latest: Romano shares Richarlison’s intentions

In a new post on his personal Twitter account, Romano reacted to the revelation of those talks and believes the player is ‘open’ to leaving. He wrote:

“Richarlison has new agents since April because he’s open for summer move. Many clubs exploring this possibility.”

The Verdict: A hammer blow

The £45m-rated talisman was without doubt one of the main reasons why the Toffees successfully escaped the relegation battle given his threat in the final third.

The former Hornets man, who was once hailed “one of the best” by ex-Everton manager Sam Allardyce, averaged 2.4 shots and 1.3 dribbles per top-flight game this campaign, via WhoScored, not to mention the fact that he netted ten goals and registered five assists as well.

If Richarlison were to depart Goodison, it would come as a huge loss to the club, but on the bright side, the hierarchy could easily demand a massive transfer fee for him which could be then put towards signing a couple of fresh faces in a bid to achieve a higher league finish next term.

In other news… a member of the Everton coaching staff is reportedly in advanced talks to make the switch to a new club.

West Ham must go back for Ludovic Ajorque

In 2021/22, West Ham have had perhaps their finest season in recent memory. A seventh-place finish in the Premier League and a Europa League semi-final were the two main highlights in a campaign which gave the London Stadium faithful some wonderful memories.

The chance of further European success will come next season, and David Moyes is duly looking to strengthen his squad ahead of an important campaign.

One of the main areas for improvement is the centre-forward position. With sole centre-forward Michail Antonio netting 13 goals, Moyes relied mainly on wingers Said Benrahma (11) and Jarrod Bowen (18) to find the net during the course of the season.

West Ham transfer targets

The club have been linked with strikers such as Armando Broja and Valentin Castellanos, but there is another name out there which could give Moyes the goals and assists that he requires at West Ham.

In January, Foot Mercato reported that the Hammers were interested in Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque, and there has now been an update regarding his position at the club.

The Ligue 1 club’s president Marc Keller stated that if “a significant offer is made”, they would consider it. This could be a big boost to Moyes, and with the striker’s asking price being set at £12.6m, it’s a fee that the Irons could comfortably afford.

West Ham’s own Griezmann?

With 12 goals and eight assists this season, Ajorque could be the ideal striker for Moyes to sign. The 28-year-old is compared to compatriot Antoine Griezmann on FBRef, and its clear to see why,

Both players are excellent in the air and extremely dangerous with the ball at their feet. They both averaged over 2.4 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes in 2021/22 (2.47 for Ajorque and 2.57 for Griezmann) and both also contributed well defensively, winning 25 and 26 tackles respectively.

West Ham could secure an excellent player for a minimal fee by moving for the Strasbourg marksman, and with the Ligue 1 club’s president willing to sell if a good offer comes in, Moyes should act sooner rather than later.

Spurs make Bastoni ‘number one’ target

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified their top three left-sided centre-back targets ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni being made the number one priority, according to Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Premier League interest

The 23-year-old arrived at the San Siro from fellow Serie A side Atalanta five years ago, and he has since gone on to make 118 appearances for his current club.

Despite still having just over two years remaining on his current contract with Inter, the defender has been attracting plenty of interest of late, particularly from the Premier League in the form of Manchester United and Manchester City.

However, following a fresh update, it appears that the Lilywhites might just be the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

The Latest: Bastoni made Spurs’ top target

Football Insider reported on Wednesday afternoon that a Tottenham source has told the website that Bastoni is the ‘number one’ target of Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici after the pair held ‘talks’ surrounding Spurs’ pursuit of the centre-back earlier this week.

The report added that the north London outfit are ‘lining up a move’ for the 23-year-old, but are also keeping RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Villarreal’s Pau Torres ‘in their sights’ as credible backup options should a deal not be agreed with the Italy defender.

The Verdict: Conte connection could swing it

With Tottenham wanting to sign a new left-sided centre-back who will be able to easily slot into Conte’s three-man defence formation, it’s no shock to see them chasing the 11-cap Italy international given his record this season.

Bastoni, who was once described as a “young Bonucci” by Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti, made 1.8 clearances and 1.4 tackles and won 1.4 of his aerial duels per league game this term, via WhoScored, proving physically and on the ground how much of a rock he can be at the heart of defence.

The £122k-per-week star is already very well known to the Spurs manager, having worked under the 52-year-old during his time in charge at Inter, and having that established connection to his former boss might be just the decisive factor that the club need if they’re to successfully bring him to N17.

Sunderland handed Aiden McGeady boost

A huge Sunderland injury update has emerged regarding Aiden McGeady ahead of the League One play-off final against Wycombe this afternoon…

What’s the latest?

Alex Neil has revealed that the Irish winger has been progressing well recently and has put himself in contention to play at Wembley.

The Black Cats manager told the Shields Gazette: “He’s been much improved over the last couple of weeks, which is great.”He’s trained really well over the last week so we’ll certainly take a view on Aiden, as we do on every player in terms of where they are.”He’s certainly done himself no harm whatsoever recently, because he’s trained well and he’s been involved in every session.” Supporters will be buzzing

This update from Neil will surely leave Sunderland supporters buzzing, as the return of McGeady would be a huge boost if he is at the peak of his powers.

The winger has not played a competitive match for the club since 23 November against Shrewsbury, and it would be a fantastic story if he is now able to come back and make a big impact in a game of this magnitude.

A win for the Black Cats will see them end their unwanted four-year stay in the third tier of English football with promotion to the Championship. They first need to make their way past Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe, who were in the second tier last season, and having a player with McGeady’s quality would be a big lift to the Black cats.

The Republic of Ireland international managed three goals and four assists – averaging 2.4 key passes per game – in the 12 starts he made during the first half of the campaign.

Last season, he averaged a phenomenal SofaScore rating of 7.31 as he played in 31 League One matches for Sunderland. He ended 2020/21 with four goals and 16 assists as he created an outstanding 2.5 chances per game from out wide.

Meanwhile, no other Sunderland player has created more than 1.9 opportunities per match this season in League One. This suggests that McGeady offers a level of creativity that Neil does not have in any other member of the first-team squad, as the 36-year-old’s statistics prove that he is an exceptional player when it comes to putting balls on a plate for his team-mates.

Therefore, the fans will be buzzing to read that he is in great physical condition and training well ahead of the play-off final, as he has the potential to be a match-winner if he is given the chance to play.

Journalist drops Nat Phillips claim

Bournemouth have not yet opened talks with Nat Phillips over a permanent move from Liverpool this summer, according to journalist Alex Crook.

The Lowdown: Phillips impresses for Bournemouth

The centre-back famously helped the Reds qualify for the Champions League last season, filling in during a defensive injury crisis for Jurgen Klopp.

It was clear that Phillips wasn’t going to be a key man once Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez returned, however, and he joined Bournemouth on loan in January.

The 25-year-old has impressed for the Cherries, making 17 appearances, and it looks highly likely that he will leave Liverpool permanently during the summer transfer window.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-liverpool-transfer-news-32/” title=”Latest Liverpool transfer news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=“none”]

The Latest: Journalist provides update

Taking to Twitter, Crook claimed that Phillips is not a certainty to remain at Bournemouth, though, with talks over a move not yet underway:

“Understand #AFCB are yet to open talks with #LFC over a permanent move for defender Nat Phillips.”

The Verdict: Time to move on

It makes complete sense for Phillips to end his stay at Liverpool this summer, with Klopp clearly not seeing him as a key player moving forward.

For all his excellent performances last season  – he has been hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Jamie Redknapp – it is time for him to become a regular on a permanent basis elsewhere.

Phillips is more than capable of thriving for a low-end Premier League side and with Bournemouth earning promotion it would be ideal for him to join the Cherries.

Hasaranga, Pathirana, Babar headline LPL 2023's team of the tournament

Players from Dambulla and Kandy dominate the 2023 honour roll

Madushka Balasuriya21-Aug-20231. Babar Azam (Colombo Strikers)
Even before the LPL auction, Babar’s services had been locked up as Colombo Strikers’ Icon overseas signing. It would prove to be an astute move as the Pakistan skipper racked up 261 runs in 8 innings, including the only hundred of the season. Sadly for Colombo, his output waned as the tournament wore on, but such was his early form he still ended as the second-highest run scorer.2. Avishka Fernando (Dambulla Aura)
Runs 244, Average 27.11, Strike rate 125.12After three successful seasons with Jaffna, Avishka took his talents to Dambulla this season as their pre-auction Platinum signing. While he only ended fourth in the run charts, he was a large part of Dambulla’s run to the finals, with his aggressive approach at the top proving particularly valuable on the frequently two-paced tracks. He also showcased more intent this year, highlighted by his 14 sixes – a figure only matched by Wanindu Hasaranga.3. Dinesh Chandimal (B-Love Kandy)
It’s been quite some time since Chandimal was given any serious consideration as an effective limited-overs option, but this year he showed that an old dog can indeed learn new tricks – or in this case, relearn long forgotten old ones. Chandimal’s strike rate of 125.12 was far and away above his career T20I strike rate of 103.60. What’s more? He was delivering them on a consistent basis – across 10 innings he failed to cross 20 just three times.4. Sadeera Samarawickrama (Dambulla Aura)
Sadeera was Player of the Series in last year’s LPL, so it was pleasing to see him follow that up with another stellar tournament – this time for Dambulla. Once again he has been the picture of consistency, only failing to reach double digits once in 10 outings. Of those, his 30-ball 36 in the final, despite coming in a losing cause, might have been arguably the best of the lot, counterpunching in the powerplay against Kandy’s spinners on a tricky surface. Both Noor Ahmad and Dhananjaya de Silva make the TOTM•SLC5. Lasith Croospulle (Galle Titans)
While the rest of the names on this list are more of the household variety, Croospulle’s isn’t quite there yet. In Galle side littered with powerhitters, it was the 24-year-old from Negombo that most caught the eye with his measured and confident stroke play at the top of the order. While not renowned for his big hitting, he made up for it with clever placement and eager running, meaning that his strike rate was consistently amongst the highest in the tournament.6. Dhananjaya de Silva (Dambulla Aura)
Rarely did Dhananjaya set this LPL alight, but hardly ever did he fail. His only scores of note – 43, 61 and 40 – came in losing causes, but were crucial in helping his side remain competitive, while he was twice there to calmly see home a successful chase. With the ball, only thrice did he fail to pick up a wicket, but only once did he pick up more than a solitary scalp – on that occasion he put up career-best figures of 4 for 6 in two overs; he might have had more, but as stand-in skipper he felt there were better bowling options to call on and didn’t bowl out.7. Wanindu Hasaranga (B-Love Kandy)
Wickets 19, Economy rate 5.51, Runs 279, Strike rate 189.79After their first three games, Kandy had won one, lost two, and Hasaranga had a grand total of 18 runs and one wicket. But then, they changed things up. From a lower-order batter, the captain was floated up the line-up as an experiment in the fourth game, and the move proved a masterstroke. With Hasaranga’s devastating ball-striking used as needed, either in the powerplay or against spin in the middle overs, opposition plans were thrown in the mud. Then with the ball, the gradually more sluggish surfaces afforded Hasaranga the type of assistance he thrives on.8. Noor Ahmad (Dambulla Aura)
With 12 wickets in eight innings, Noor’s bowling impact was only behind that of Hasaranga’s. Frequently asked to bowl in the middle overs, his skiddy wristspin proved a strong weapon for Dambulla in building pressure. Only once in his eight matches did he go wicketless, while his three wickets in the final nearly turned a straightforward chase in his side’s favour. Not a season to remember for Colombo, but Pathirana was red hot•SLC9. Matheesha Pathirana (Colombo Strikers)
The rawness is still apparent for all to see, with stray deliveries either side of the wicket a frequent occurrence with the young slinger. But when he gets it on target Pathirana is an absolute handful, troubling batters with his express pace and awkward bounce. Still only 20, once he masters his control, Sri Lanka will have a real star on their hands.10. Lahiru Kumara (Galle Titans)
Kumara only played the last five games, but such was his impact you wonder what he could do if he were able to remain fit consistently. His fierce new ball spells, where he frequently found a hard length at pace, proved extremely difficult to get away. His death bowling has also come on leaps, making a him a viable option at both ends of the innings.11. Nuwan Pradeep (B-Love Kandy)
All the talk pre-tournament was on Dushmantha Chameera’s express pace, but Pradeep showed that at 36 years of age he’s still got plenty left in the tank. Regularly hitting speeds in the mid-to-high 130s, Pradeep’s control and ability to vary his length and pace adeptly played a key role in Kandy’s title win. He picked up three three-fors in seven games.

Rangers flop who was even worse than Butland is now on borrowed time

Glasgow Rangers will not win a trophy in the year of 2025. That was confirmed when they were beaten 3-1 at Hampden Park in the semi-finals of the League Cup on Sunday.

Danny Rohl had won his first two matches in the Scottish Premiership ahead of this last four clash with their Glasgow rivals, but he was unable to mastermind a third successive victory in all competitions.

The Light Blues did manage to get to extra time, despite being down to ten men, but two goals in extra time meant that they were knocked out of the competition.

Why Jack Butland did not cost Rangers the result

Some supporters or neutrals may want to point the finger at Jack Butland for the defeat, because he should have done better with the Callum McGregor shot that put Celtic 2-1 up.

The shot seemed to go through the former England international and down the middle of the goal, but he was unable to adjust and prevent it from finding the back of the net.

Despite that error, Butland did not cost the Light Blues the game because they were only in the match because of his impressive saves. Premier Sports TV pundit and former Hoops manager Neil Lennon even described his performance as “tremendous”.

The pick of his saves, arguably, was his fingertip stop to deny Callum Osmand’s brilliant header that looked destined for the bottom corner, whilst he also made several close-range stops in the initial 90 minutes.

A Rangers player who was worse than Butland in the game was young left-back Jayden Meghoma, and he may be on borrowed time in the starting line-up.

Why Jayden Meghoma may be on borrowed time

The Brentford loanee was caught out for the opening goal of the game when he allowed his man, Johnny Kenny, to get the jump on him from a corner.

Premier Sports TV pundit Michael Stewart noted on commentary that Meghoma “never recognises the danger”, which seems to be a fair comment when you consider that the full-back had a similar issue against Brann in Rohl’s first match.

The English defender allowed Jacob Lungi Sorensen to get the run and jump on him for a goal in that loss, which led Ally McCoist to describe his defending as “remarkable” and “diabolical”.

Meghoma was even worse than Butland against Celtic because there were several occasions where he did not recognise the danger, as Stewart put it, and put his side, and Butland, under pressure.

The teenage full-back’s performances for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership so far this season also do not suggest that he has what it takes to be the first-choice left-back moving beyond the January transfer window.

As you can see in the table above, Meghoma only has one assist to his name to make up for the two errors leading to shots, and 12.7 times possession lost per game on average.

He has been questionable defensively, particularly from set-pieces, and has been wasteful in possession without creating much to make up for it, which is why Rohl should be looking to add an experienced left-back in January.

Meghoma is currently the only natural left-back in the first-team squad, as a result of the squad building by Kevin Thelwell and Russell Martin in the summer, and his underwhelming performances may convince Rohl to push for the club to bring another one in.

Therefore, the Rangers loanee’s place in the XI may be on borrowed time unless he can significantly improve his performance level over the next two months or so.

Rangers now battling to sign "fantastic" midfield talent in first signing for Rohl

Danny Rohl has officially arrived and, with that, Rangers have already reportedly joined the race to secure his first signing in the form of a talented midfielder.

Charlie Austin: Rangers should be "excited" by Rohl

After Russell Martin’s disastrous 123-day spell in charge, Rangers fans are understandably apprehensive when it comes to welcoming a young manager with open arms. Rohl arrives at just 36 years old and with just one permanent managerial role under his belt. According to former Premier League striker Charlie Austin, however, the Gers should be excited by his appointment.

In terms of the tactics that Rangers can expect, they can forget the slow build-up that Martin demanded his side to play. Rohl is far more about counter-pressing in what has become synonymous with German football over the years.

The young coach has worked with some fantastic attacking managers, including Barcelona’s Hansi Flick and Ralph Hasenhuttl when his Southampton side were at their very best.

He wasn’t their first choice, but Rohl may yet turn into the best choice at Rangers. Up first, he has the task of getting the Gers back to winning ways on the European stage against Brann, before travelling to face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

Meanwhile, as another manager arrives, Kevin Thelwell and the 49ers have already reportedly joined the race to hand him his first Rangers signing.

Rangers battling to sign David Watson

As reported by TeamTalk, Rangers are now battling to sign David Watson to hand Rohl his first signing. The Kilmarnock midfielder is on course to leave as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season and has attracted interest from those at Ibrox as a result.

That said, the Gers aren’t alone in their pursuit. Joining them, shock league leaders Hearts have also set their sights on signing the young Scot at the end of the season. A league title could certainly hand them an advantage over Rangers for the first time in a long time.

Secret Rohl talks took place while everyone thought Rangers were after Muscat

This is an intriguing update.

ByHenry Jackson Oct 20, 2025

It’s no surprise that the top clubs are after Watson’s signature, either. The 20-year-old is one of the best young talents in Scotland and has been involved in four goals in eight league games so far this season.

Earning plenty of praise amid that form, Kilmarnock vice-captain Robbie Deas told reporters: “Davey’s fantastic, honestly. He’s one of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet. He’s absolutely fantastic. You see that today, and he’s putting those tackles in later on.”

Signing a young midfielder to match a young manager with lofty ambitions would be an ideal way for Rangers to commence the Rohl era. To do so, though, they’ll have to fend off plenty of interest.

Morgan Rogers stays at Aston Villa! England international agrees new contract until 2031 after fighting off suitors in summer

Aston Villa have reportedly reached an agreement with Morgan Rogers over a new long-term contract. The 23-year-old's deal was set to expire in 2030, so Unai Emery's team are in a strong position when it comes to resisting interest from potential suitors in the coming months. Now, the attacking midfielder is said to be nearing a contract extension at Villa Park.

Aston Villa secure Rogers breakthrough

Like Villa's slow start to the season, the former Middlesbrough star looked lethargic, uninspired, and a shadow of the player who starred for much of last campaign. Indeed, in late August, he may have opened the door to a potential Villa exit in the not-so-distant future, despite being "happy" to be there.

He said, "I’m happy here [Aston Villa]. I love football. I love nothing more than just coming out on the pitch and playing football and that’s what I’m doing. I don’t think about anything else. I can’t predict the next 12 months or anything in the future. It’s just about playing football, enjoying my football and showing everyone what I can do."

But in recent weeks, the England international's strong form has reappeared for both club and country. Now, The Athletic reports that he will sign a new deal until 2031, which will make him one of Villa's highest earners.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportTuchel praises Rogers

Even though Rogers had a slow start to the season, England boss Thomas Tuchel has backed him to the hilt – even to the point of preferring him over Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham.

After England's 3-0 win over Wales last month, the German said of Rogers: "Morgan was excellent like the whole team, he's very humble, he's very physical. He has the ability to score and to assist. He had a fantastic season (in 2024-25) and was deservedly voted as the young player of the season in the Premier League. Morgan was one piece of the puzzle but it is a team effort.

"Morgan is what he is. He is a number 10 and he is competing for his place. He is in a good way. We are ready for any team effort. Serbia was the next example of teamwork. We created a lot of chances. We could use Harry Kane all the time, but we need to play without Harry and Jude – the guys are injured."

Emery wants Rogers to kick on

Rogers, who reportedly is being 'coveted by leading sides in the Premier League and abroad, has been challenged by Villa boss Emery to take his game to the next level. This season, he has one goal and three assists in 15 appearances, whereas last term, he notched 30 goal contributions.

He said in October: "Every individual player needs the team. They need the structure and the shape to feel comfortable and to feel confident, and to set their individual performance. Morgan Rogers, he is improving at the same time which the team is improving and getting better, because he is feeling comfortable and confident to show his qualities and his power in everything. The goals and assists, his movement and confidence to beat an opponent is coming progressively through the team. Other players, we should help them as well to help them feel like Morgan is feeling and performing. We need to help and support every player, their qualities and characteristics in our structure. I will want to see more improvements, getting better and having the numbers, or overcoming the numbers he had last season with us."

After that, Rogers could be in action for England as Tuchel's side prepare for their final two World Cup qualifiers, this time against Serbia and Albania on November 13 and 16, respectively.

Mets’ Jesse Winker Had Funny Exchange With Vladimir Guerrero Jr. After Throwing Him Out

New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker went viral for a hilarious moment in Tuesday’s 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Roger Centre.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Winker picked up Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s line drive to left center and threw the ball to Eddy Alvarez at second base to get the out. Guerrero collided with Alvarez at the base and appeared to be safe, according to the initial call.

However, after a Mets’ challenge, the call was overturned and Guerrero was confirmed to be out.

As Guerrero stood there shaking his head in visible disbelief, Winker walked over, looked him in the eyes and stuck out his hand, offering what seemed to be an olive branch.

Guerrero flashed a wry smile, shook Winker’s hand, and that was that.

It wasn’t exactly the most thrilling moment in baseball, but it still gave fans a good laugh.
