Revealed: Bruno Fernandes transfer stance amid Saudi Pro League interest – with speculation linking Man Utd captain with move to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East

Bruno Fernandes continues to see a move to the Saudi Pro League speculated on, but the Manchester United captain reportedly has “no interest” in completing such a switch at this stage of his career. That will be music to the ears of those at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese playmaker a talismanic presence for the Red Devils while continuing to fill their armband.

  • Fernandes contract: When Man Utd deal expires

Fernandes remains under contract in Manchester through to the summer of 2027, with those terms including the option for a further 12-month extension. He is 31 years of age, but continues to deliver at a high standard for the Red Devils – who have been infuriatingly inconsistent as a collective across several seasons.

Losing their skipper would represent a serious blow to United, with Ruben Amorim looking to build around his fellow countryman. Nobody comes close to matching the mercurial midfielder’s output when looking at end product – with 100 goals being reached for the Red Devils through 297 appearances in all competitions.

Fernandes’ value to any given cause is clear for all to see, which has led to admiring glances being shot in his direction from the Middle East. It is claimed that lucrative offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad were knocked back over the summer as formal approaches were made.

Follow Ronaldo? Saudi offers snub as Man Utd stance revealed

There has been talk of more of those being readied, with the experienced Portugal international being given the chance to tread a similar career path to Cristiano Ronaldo – who linked up with Al-Nassr after seeing his second spell on United’s books come to a close.

According to , Fernandes has no intention of heading down that route. They claim that “sources close to the United skipper have completely rejected recent suggestions he is ready to quit Old Trafford after the World Cup next summer and accept a Saudi offer”. Said report goes on to claim that Fernandes is “only interested in playing in major European leagues”.

Fernandes is said to be “fully committed to United”, with there confidence on his part that long-term plans being pieced together by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and club co-owners INEOS will deliver an upturn in fortune. BBC Sport state that “Fernandes is determined to put everything into helping United towards a better future, while also believing it is possible to secure a top-five finish that could earn a place in next season's Champions League”.

  • Fernandes asking price: Man Utd eager to avoid sale

There have been reports to suggest that United would demand more than £60 million ($80m) from any deal involving Fernandes, with there understandable reluctance on their part to see a prized asset move on. The hope is that such an asking price will deter any potential suitors. Big-spending sides in the Saudi Pro League do, however, boast deep pockets.

Amorim has spoken of his desire to see Fernandes stay put, with there an important role for him to play with United heading forward. The Red Devils’ under-fire coach has said of his captain: “He deserves all the praise. That guy deserves to be in the history of our club, not just for what he does but for what his team conquers.”

United have looked to use Fernandes in a deeper playmaking berth this season, rather than pushing him forward as an archetypal No.10. Amorim believes that he can be more effective in that role as he sees more of the ball and can dictate proceedings from the middle of the pitch.

That could be considered to impact his attacking threat somewhat, with positions being taken up further away from the opposition goal, but United need players of his ilk to be involved as often as possible in an ongoing bid to make Amorim’s favoured 3-4-3 system work.

Fernandes happy: Next up for Man Utd

With Fernandes seemingly happy in his current surroundings for now, United – who have picked up 10 points from seven games this season to sit 10th in the Premier League table – will be back in action after the latest international break when heading to Anfield for a meeting with old adversaries Liverpool on October 19.

Leeds can forget Wilson by signing "extraordinary" free agent once worth £33m

Leeds United did not add any new players to their squad to bolster their options at the top end of the pitch on deadline day before the summer transfer window officially slammed shut.

That was despite the fact that Daniel Farke claimed that it would be “difficult” for the club to avoid relegation from the Premier League if they did not add more quality to their frontline.

The German head coach was clear that he wanted more recruits to improve his options in the final third to give his side the best chances of avoiding the drop back down to the Championship.

Unfortunately, the club were unable to deliver on what the manager wanted. The Athletic’s Beren Cross has since reported that the club felt that there were not many wingers on the market who were better than Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto, who scored four goals combined in their last season in the Premier League.

Despite that claim from sources inside the club, it was well-reported that Leeds were interested in a deal to sign Harry Wilson from Fulham on deadline day.

Why missing out on Harry Wilson was a blow for Leeds

The Championship champions reportedly agreed a deal with the Cottagers to sign the Wales international by meeting their asking price on the final day of the window.

However, Fulham then had a late change of mind and opted to keep the left-footed star at Craven Cottage, which left the Whites with little time to find an alternative before the window slammed shut.

Ultimately, Leeds should have known that they needed another option on the right wing the second they were promoted to the Premier League, given James’ aforementioned struggles in the division in the past, so there cannot be too much sympathy given to them for missing out on Wilson on deadline day.

However, it was a blow to miss out on the winger at the time because it then left the club without enough time to source a replacement before the window closed, and it was a blow because Wilson is a quality player who could have been an excellent signing.

As you can see in the table above, the Welsh wizard is a proven Premier League performer who has delivered ten goals and seven assists in the last two seasons, outperforming his xG in both campaigns.

Given that James has never scored more than four goals in a Premier League season in his career, Wilson’s tally of six in the top-flight last term suggests that he could have been an upgrade on what Farke currently has at his disposal.

Given Farke’s claim that it will be difficult for Leeds to avoid the drop without any additions to the frontline, the club must now consider looking into the free agent market, as they did around this time last year with the signing of Josuha Guilavogui to bolster their midfield.

There are some interesting names in the free agent pool, including recently released former Leeds striker Patrick Bamford, and one player who could fit the bill for the Whites is Hakim Ziyech.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

The Morocco international is a reported transfer target for Spanish side Elche, after leaving Al Duhail earlier this summer, and Leeds should now push to convince him to make a move back to the Premier League this season.

Why Leeds should sign Hakim Ziyech

The West Yorkshire outfit should attempt to sign Ziyech on a free transfer as an alternative to Wilson because it is clear that they need an addition to their options in that position.

James’ historical struggles in the Premier League and his poor start to the current campaign, with zero goals and zero ‘big chances’ created, suggest that he is not going to be the answer to their attacking woes any time soon.

Hakim Ziyech for Galatasaray.

Bringing in Ziyech, who is vastly experienced at the top level, on a free transfer could be a shrewd and relatively low-risk move that could pay off big time for Farke and his side.

The 32-year-old star has played over 200 Eredivisie matches, over 60 games in the Premier League, and 45 times in the Champions League, per Transfermarkt, which shows that he has had a fantastic career and proven himself in big competitions.

Ziyech, as you can see in the clip above, showed signs of quality during his time with Premier League giants Chelsea, with this stunning strike against Spurs arguably the individual highlight of his spell at Stamford Bridge.

As you can see in the table above, the Moroccan wizard delivered an eye-catching return of 21 ‘big chances’ created in 35 league starts for the Blues.

James, meanwhile, has created 16 ‘big chances’ in 109 appearances in the Premier League, per Sofascore, for Manchester United, Fulham, and Leeds combined, which shows that he does not offer anywhere near as much creative quality as Ziyech.

Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech.

The former Ajax star, whose touch was hailed as “extraordinary” by Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk, also scored 79 goals in 216 Eredivisie games earlier in his career, per Transfermarkt, which means that he can also offer a goal threat when given regular game time.

At the age of 32, Ziyech may not be at the peak of his powers or a signing that would be as exciting as it would have been five years ago, but he is still at a stage where he can contribute at the top end of the pitch and provide a touch of class that Farke’s side are clearly lacking.

Robert Lewandowski out of El Clasico: Barcelona rocked by yet another blow as striker sidelined with hamstring injury

Barcelona have suffered another injury blow, with Robert Lewandowski picking up a muscle tear while on international duty with Poland. The reigning La Liga champions have put no timescale on the Polish striker’s recovery, but it is being reported that he could be sidelined for several weeks. If that proves to be the case, then the veteran frontman will miss a Clasico clash with Real Madrid on October 26.

GettyLewandowski injury: What is wrong with the Polish striker?

Lewandowski played the full 90 minutes for Poland in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lithuania. He was on target in that contest, taking his international goal tally to 87 through 161 appearances. He has told reporters of wanting to become a centurion on the goal front: "I'm only 13 goals away from 100. There are still a few games left this year, and next year too. I'm happy with every goal. We'll see what happens." The 37-year-old did, however, complain of experiencing discomfort after said outing for his country.

The experienced Pole returned to training in Catalunya on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva. He was sent for medical tests after informing Barca of the issues regarding his left leg. It has been confirmed that Lewandowski will require a period of rest.

A statement on Barcelona’s read: “Robert Lewandowski has suffered a hamstring injury in his left thigh. He will be sidelined, and his recovery time will depend on how the injury progresses.

“The Polish striker has scored four goals in nine appearances so far in the 2025-26 season. His tally includes a brace against Valencia and goals against Oviedo and Real Sociedad. This season he has also scored two goals for Poland, the most recent coming during the October international break against Lithuania.”

AdvertisementBarcelona fixtures: Games Lewandowski could miss

It remains to be seen how long Lewandowski will be sidelined for, with the legendary No.9 having already lost his starting berth at Barca to Ferran Torres this season. A pessimistic update on his condition has been delivered by .

They claim that Lewandowski is likely to be ruled out for between four and six weeks, with it never wise to rush recovery from hamstring injuries. It appears to be inevitable that the Poland international will sit out a Clasico trip to Santiago Bernabeu on October 26.

He will also miss a meeting with Girona on Saturday and a Champions League clash with Greek giants Olympiacos next week. If Lewandowski is ruled out through to the next international break, then matches with Elche, Club Brugge and Celta Vigo will also be watched from afar.

GettyInjury list: Who else is missing for Barcelona

Lewandowski joins a growing list of walking wounded at Barcelona. They are already going to be without Joan Garcia, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gavi, and Dani Olmo for a meeting with old adversaries Madrid.

As things stand, on-loan Marcus Rashford, Torres – who returned early from international duty with Spain after picking up a knock – and teenager Roony Bardghji are the only senior attackers available to Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick for a clash with Catalan neighbours Girona.

Brazilian forward Raphinha is not yet training fully with the rest of the first-team squad, but 18-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal is said to be “training more normally” after resting during the latest international break and could be ready for a recall at the weekend. Fermin Lopez is also considered to be fit, but Dani Olmo is still two or three weeks away from a return.

Contract expiring: Lewandowski heading towards free agency

Barcelona will want everybody back as soon as possible, with Real having returned to the top of the Liga table. They hold a two-point lead at the summit through eight fixtures, with injury troubles having stung Barca at the worst possible time.

Lewandowski, who hit 42 goals across all competitions last season, will hope that he is not out for long as his contract in Catalunya continues to run down. Amid talk of interest being shown in Bayern Munich’s England international striker Harry Kane, it could be that Lewandowski is allowed to hit free agency in the summer of 2026.

Not just Joelinton: Howe may have to finally replace Newcastle's "machine"

Newcastle United approached this season with a transfer window that spoke volumes about the direction Eddie Howe wants to take his side.

The long pursuit of a striker was one of the defining sagas of the summer.

Newcastle explored deals for Hugo Ekitike, João Pedro, and Benjamin Šeško without success, while their admiration for Jørgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa was well documented.

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade arrived for £69m, while Wissa eventually did get his Tyneside move for £55m.

Aaron Ramsdale, Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga also joined the squad, each reflecting Howe’s growing emphasis on technical security and ball progression across the pitch.

That shift in philosophy has already been evident, though results suggest it remains a work in progress. Newcastle opened the campaign with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in which they were the better side but could not convert dominance into goals.

A week later they fell 3-2 at home to Liverpool, conceding in the 100th minute to a dramatic Rio Ngumoha strike.

A second goalless draw, this time away at Leeds, extended the wait for a first win. It finally came with a 1-0 success over Wolves before their Champions League return against Barcelona ended in a 2-1 defeat.

That match highlighted both the potential and the vulnerabilities of this Newcastle team.

While they held their own for spells, Barcelona’s midfield bypassed their press too easily, exposing limitations in central areas.

Joelinton’s place is under threat

Few players better embody Newcastle’s revival than Joelinton.

Written off during his time as an underwhelming striker, the Brazilian was reinvented as a midfielder and quickly became a symbol of Howe’s ability to adapt and inspire.

Now 29, he has made 225 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 29 goals and assisting 21.

A Brazilian international, Joelinton brings power, energy, and physicality to the centre of the park. But Newcastle’s evolving style of play is not built solely on intensity.

Howe’s side are seeking to control possession, and it is here that Joelinton begins to look less secure.

While he remains a destructive presence, his passing numbers highlight the challenge he faces.

He ranks only in the 46th percentile among midfielders for pass completion at 83.1%, and also in the 46th percentile for progressive passes with 4.42 per 90.

Against Barcelona, these shortcomings were exposed as Newcastle’s midfield was often bypassed.

Where Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali are comfortable recycling possession under pressure, Joelinton is not as consistent in tight areas.

His role has always been about breaking up play and driving forward, but as Newcastle move toward a more sustained possession approach, Howe may look for something different.

Jacob Ramsey’s arrival is the clearest signal of this.

The England Under-21 midfielder has been praised for his dynamism and ability to carry the ball through midfield, but also for his composure when playing out from the back.

Ramsey is not simply competition for Joelinton; he represents a potential long-term replacement.

That does not mean Joelinton will suddenly vanish from the picture.

His presence remains vital in certain fixtures, particularly those that demand physical duels and defensive resilience.

Yet Newcastle’s attempt to evolve into a possession-based force may gradually squeeze him out of the starting XI.

Why Malick Thiaw is ready to replace Schär

In defence, a similar story may be about to unfold.

Fabian Schär has been one of Newcastle’s most reliable performers since joining from Deportivo La Coruña for £3m in 2018, described as a “machine” by journalist Jordan Cronin.

A composed ball-playing centre-back, he has racked up 235 appearances and contributed 21 goals, his technique and distribution making him an ideal fit for Howe’s early tenure.

Yet at 33, the Swiss defender is entering the twilight of his career. Against Barcelona, he looked stretched and his withdrawal through injury only added to the sense that change is coming.

That change may arrive in the form of Malick Thiaw.

Signed from AC Milan for £30m, the 24-year-old Germany international is built for the style Howe is now pursuing.

When introduced against Barcelona, he immediately demonstrated his qualities: calm under pressure, comfortable receiving in tight spaces, and confident enough to turn away from markers.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

His numbers emphasise that profile.

Thiaw sits in the 95th percentile for pass completion among centre-backs with an accuracy of 93.2%. He also ranks in the 85th percentile for progressive passes at 4.86 per 90.

His athleticism also gives him an edge in recovery situations, an attribute that could prove vital against faster, more direct opponents.

It is no coincidence that comparisons have been made to Ibrahima Konaté and Micky van de Ven. Like those defenders, Thiaw is equally comfortable defending space in behind as he is stepping forward to engage high up the pitch.

This versatility makes him the prototype of the modern possession-based centre-back.

With Schär sidelined, Bournemouth away looks set to provide Thiaw with his first Newcastle start.

If he translates his statistical promise into consistent performances, Howe may decide that the future is now.

Much like Joelinton in midfield, Schär’s experience and leadership will not be dismissed lightly, but Newcastle’s tactical evolution is ushering in a new era.

Man Utd have a 17-year-old "machine" who's just as exciting as JJ Gabriel

The Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS era at Manchester United has been a rollercoaster of emotions to date.

The old regime were hardly ideal but trophies were a regular occurrence and under the new ownership, it has not been smooth sailing whatsoever.

Erik ten Hag has gone but perhaps they might have been better off sticking by the Dutchman. After all, Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford has been dire and that’s putting it politely in all honesty.

While United returned to winning ways on Saturday, defeating high-flying Sunderland 2-0, the Portuguese has not showcased the immense managerial potential that he did at Sporting CP in Lisbon.

Indeed, after 33 games, only five managers in Premier League history had achieved fewer points. This is Manchester United, not a relegation-threatened team; things need to improve.

Yet, there has been some good to come from the Amorim and Ratcliffe era. They’ve flushed out some bad eggs, put together a backroom team that looks far more organised and gone back to the days of Sir Alex Ferguson in recruiting Premier League-ready talents. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are a testament to that.

They’ve also done well to keep the current poster boy of the Carrington Academy at the club, JJ Gabriel.

How Manchester United convinced JJ Gabriel to stay

The Man United academy has been a sacred place for some time now. It might not be Barcelona’s La Masia but the Class of 92 is known the world over.

Remarkably, United have had someone from their academy in every first-team matchday squad since 1937, but that record is now in danger.

Amorim’s treatment of Kobbie Mainoo nearly saw him leave and he was the only outright Carrington graduate in the squad for the win over Sunderland. Ayden Heaven was on the bench but he is technically a graduate of Arsenal’s Hale End instead.

While it might be a few more years before we see 15-year-old JJ Gabriel making waves at first-team level, he certainly looks like the next big thing to come out of the club’s academy.

Hailed as “one of the most exciting talents in the world” by the Manchester Evening News’ Steven Railston, the teenager has been catching the eye for some time now and is already playing several years above his age group.

Perhaps the most sparkly jewel at Carrington right now, he has already found the net on seven occasions in six U18 Premier League matches this term. Yeah, he’s pretty special.

In The Pipeline

Football FanCast’s In the Pipeline series aims to uncover the very best youth players in world football.

As the MEN outline, some academy followers believe ‘he could be the best talent United’s academy has ever seen’ but there was a threat of him leaving.

Already sponsored by Nike and boasting over 200,000 followers on Instagram, Gabriel is all the hype at the moment and has subsequently attracted plenty of interest.

He was close to leaving in the summer, with talks reportedly at an advanced stage with one top European club. However, a meeting was held at Carrington in which Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, and CEO, Omar Barrada, were both present.

They told Gabriel that he could become the face of the club, a verdict that led to the youngster deciding to stay in the north west.

So, he’s got the backing of Wilcox and Barrada already but is there currently a bigger talent in the academy ranks? Quite possibly.

JJ Gabriel's biggest rival at Carrington

While Gabriel looks like one of the finest talents on the youth circuit at the moment, there is a lot of hard work to be undertaken before he gets his opportunity.

He will also need to find a way past not just Benjamin Sesko in the forthcoming years but another academy sensation by the name of Chido Obi Martin.

Obi Martin arrived from Arsenal this time last year and considering his record at youth level, it was a move that caused a bit of a stir.

After all, before Max Dowman came on the scene, he was arguably the finest talent at Hale End. He scored 32 goals in 21 official games for Arsenal’s U18s and once bagged ten goals in a 14-3 win over Liverpool U16s. It’s safe to say he knows where the net is.

Sadly for the Gunners, he didn’t see a pathway to the first-team and moved to United, where to his credit, he did receive game time last term, featuring eight times for thesenior side without scoring.

Yet, in 2025/26, Amorim hasn’t selected him in a senior matchday squad once. That’s despite scoring three goals in six Premier League 2 matches.

Chido Obi’s development may have slowed slightly throughout 2025 but this is still one of the finest strikers we’ve ever seen at youth level in this country.

In the words of scout Jacek Kulig, he’s a “goalscoring machine”. No player has scored at a quicker rate in U18 Premier League history (37 goals in 24 games) and only one player, Southampton’s Nicholas Oyekunle has scored more (38) at that level in the competition’s history.

There is a huge difference between youth and senior football. Many players have soared up through the academy and then failed to make the grade. For Obi, that will be the concern, but the fact he was playing games for United’s first team last season at the age of 17 speaks volumes.

Gabriel is attracting all of the attention right now but don’t forget about Obi Martin; he’s even more prolific than his teenage counterpart. Amorim must find space in his squad to unleash him this season.

This was Zimbabwe’s first Test in England in 22 years and a strong expat crowd delighted in brave batting from Sean Williams, Ben Curran, Sikandar Raza and Wessly Madhevere.Williams fell 12 short of a century and put on 122 for the second wicket while Raza reached a 10th Test half-century and shared a 65-run fifth-wicket stand with Madhevere. Zimbabwe did not disgrace themselves as they came within 45 runs of making England bat again and showed promise ahead of home Tests against South Africa, New Zealand and Afghanistan later this year.England, meanwhile, have had their first bit of preparation ahead of a massive eight months in Tests which includes a five-match home series against India and the Ashes in Australia. They may have some concerns over their frontline seamers, who lacked some bite. Captain Ben Stokes was the most threatening on his return to bowling after hamstring surgery, and also maintained the highest pace, across his two four-over spells. In total, he bowled 11.2 in the match, while Bashir finished with nine for 143, his best match figures.Zimbabwe began the day on 30 for 2, 270 runs behind and needing a big batting performance from someone. Williams, an international veteran of 20 years who averages 66.56 in the last five years, delivered. He played a typically energetic knock, laced with boundaries. He hit 16 fours in his innings, nine through the covers and mid-off as England overpitched and occasionally offered width. He also ushered Curran through a cautious knock that spanned 104 balls for 37 runs.Stokes began the morning’s proceedings and immediately caused problems for Zimbabwe. His third ball was wide and full, Curran drove hard and edged past gully for four. Stokes would have known he’d also planted a seed of doubt and in his next over, he could have reaped the rewards. On 10, Curran drove the ball back to Stokes, who stuck out both hands but could not hold on in his followthrough. That would have stung and more so when Williams smoked Stokes through point and over midwicket later in the over.Williams reached fifty in the next over with a pinpoint straight drive off Josh Tongue, off the 42nd ball he faced. In the next over, Tongue hit Williams on the bottom forearm, with a delivery that reared up from back of a length and drew blood. Williams was treated on-field and appeared unaffected as he drove a wide Atkinson ball in his favoured region for four more.Sean Williams produced a fighting 88 to lead Zimbabwe’s resistance•Getty Images

Joe Root was used for an over for Tongue to change ends and England went double-spin with the introduction of Bashir. Williams reverse-swept his first ball for four to enter the seventies. At the other end Tongue began a short-ball assault on Curran that almost paid off. Curran, having hauled his way to 29, pulled Tongue to Stokes at midwicket but the England captain could only get fingertips to it.Curran survived again when Umpire Kumar Dharmasena gave him out lbw after he missed a sweep against Bashir but Curran reviewed. Hawkeye showed the ball was bouncing over the top of the stumps. Williams was not quite as lucky. On 88, he was hit on the pads, given out and reviewed. Replays showed the ball was clipping the top of the leg stump. Having faced 82 balls, he had been on course to reclaim the national record for fastest century that Brian Bennett’s 97-ball effort had taken on the previous day.Post-lunch, Curran adopted a more aggressive approach and drove Bashir aerially but only as far as Stokes at short cover, for whom the third time was a charm. He had no trouble holding on. That brought Raza and Madhevere together and they took on the spin and the short ball from Sam Cook with confidence. They had a couple of nervy moments: when Bashir induced Raza’s edge once and the ball ricocheted off Jamie Smith and onto the peak of Harry Brook’s cap at first slip, which saved him from being hit on the forehead. Then, Cook got a full ball to jag back into Madhevere and hit his front pad and convinced Stokes to review. Ball-tracking showed it was missing leg stump. In the end it took a moment of magic, and the return of Stokes, to separate the pair. He went short to Madhevere and found extra bounce, Madhevere attempted a cut but found an outside-edge and the ball seemed to be heading over second slip. Brook jumped, stuck his right hand up and plucked the ball out of the air, to everyone’s surprise. Madhevere looked back, astonished that he had to go while Stokes placed his hand over his mouth a la Stuart Broad, who celebrated in the same way when Stokes himself pulled off a blinder in the Ashes a decade ago on the same ground. With Madhevere went Zimbabwe’s last real hope of making England bat again and the result was only a matter of time. Tafadzwa Tsiga was bowled by Bashir when he came down the track to a ball that turned in and through the bat-pad gap. Zimbabwean emotions see-sawed as Raza reached fifty in the next over when he creamed Stokes through the covers for his eighth four but in the over after that Blessing Muzarabani slog-swept Bashir straight to Root at deep midwicket. Bashir bagged his fifth when Raza, who had added two more fours to his count, tried to heave him over the leg side and managed a leading edge which Brook pouched.Fittingly, Bashir finished things off when he struck Chivanga on the back pad as he played inside the line and was hit in front of middle and off. Richard Ngarava, Zimbabwe’s No.11, did not bat in either innings after leaving the field on the first day with a back injury.
