Painting Corners: Best MLB Prop Bets Today (Nate Eovaldi, Spencer Arrighetti, and Carlos Carrasco Strikeout Props)

Happy Hump Day! One of the best things about summer is daytime baseball.

If you can’t make it to the game, though, you can still get in on the action with some plus-money props today.

Here are three pitcher props on the board with good value to consider.

Best MLB Prop Bets for Wednesday, June 26

Spencer Arrighetti over 6.5 K (+100)

Arrighetti’s season stats don’t look that impressive. He has a 6.36 ERA and 12.8% walk-rate.

However,  Arrghetti’s K-rate of 10.09 per nine  impressive,  and today, he gets a Colorado Rockies team that is striking out at a 25.5% clip vs. right-handed pitching (27th in MLB).

The Houston Astros will be looking to extend their win streak to seven today. If they win, they will be at .500 for the first time this season and will continue to gain on the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.

I’m willing to bet Arrighetti gets the run support to pitch deep enough into this game to clear this mark.

Nathan Eovaldi over 5.5 K (+115)

Texas Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi has struck out six or more hitters in eight of 12 starts this year.

The Milwaukee Brewers, his opponent on Wednesday, are in the middle of the pack with a 23.1% strikeout rate, but Eovaldi’s K-rate vs. this Brewers team is over 28%.

Carlos Carrasco over 3.5 K (+100)

Carlos Carrasco is not a high K-rate pitcher, but he struck out seven Toronto Blue Jays — who have one of the league’s lowest K-rates — in his last start.

The Baltimore Orioles have been rung up 21 times across the first two games of this series, and they averaged seven per game in the series vs. Houston.

Carrasco has exceeded this mark in six of thirteen starts this season.

Significant Man City contract claim emerges with new deal now close

One Manchester City player is now reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal at the club, following a fresh claim from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Guardiola delighted with Foden's resurgence

Pep Guardiola’s side host Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, acting as a good chance to pick up three more points.

One player who is back in form for City is Phil Foden, having scored in the recent wins over Manchester United and Huddersfield Town, and Guardiola is clearly happy with what he is seeing from the Englishman.

“Phil playing behind the striker is a real threat. We would have liked to score a second goal and make the substitutions before for Nico O’Reilly and Phil because they played a tough game against Arsenal three days ago. But they are young. They have good vitamins during the days, good food, good protein and yeah, now come back to Manchester to prepare [for Burnley].

“We have seen already Phil in a few games when the team play better. When every player makes his potential – but it’s not just today – the games against Arsenal, United and Napoli he was really good.”

Foden is a huge player for City moving forward, and now a new update suggests that another attacker could be committing his future to the club.

Big Man City contract claim emerges

Taking to X, Romano claimed that Manchester City winger Savinho is set to sign a contract extension at the Etihad, with an agreement reached.

While Savinho hasn’t necessarily hit the heights many expected of him when he joined City last year, this still has to be considered exciting news, given his long-term potential as a player.

It is easy to forget that the Brazilian is still only 21 years of age, and Guardiola has spoken of his admiration over the past 12 months, clearly rating him highly.

“We’re a way from what we have to be as a team, but Savinho made an incredible performance again like he did against Everton. He’s a guy who can play on both sides, today he finally scored a goal. He has an incredible ability and quality he’s proven in that period.”

The aim now for Savinho is to find more consistency and end product in his game, having only scored four goals in 52 appearances for City, but that should come with age.

Another injury blow for Rafael Leao? AC Milan coach explains star winger's early substitution in Serie A draw against Atalanta

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has calmed fears surrounding Rafael Leao after the attacker was substituted early in the 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Monday. While the Portugal winger felt some discomfort during the game, Allegri insists his early exit was merely a precautionary measure following his recent fitness struggles.

Leao withdrawn at half-time as injury fears return

Milan were forced into a precautionary change at half-time during their 1-1 Serie A draw against Atalanta, with the Portuguese international substituted after feeling discomfort in his hip. The 26-year-old forward, who had scored four goals in his last three appearances, was replaced by Christopher Nkunku as coach Allegri looked to avoid aggravating the issue.

Allegri’s decision to remove Leao sparked concern, especially with crucial fixtures on the horizon. Leao has been struggling with fitness issues since he sustained a calf injury in their first competitive game of the season in August. He then missed the first four Serie A matches before making his return in late August. Leao was then released early from Portugal’s national team camp by head coach Roberto Martinez after suffering another setback. The winger sat out the World Cup qualifier against Hungary and returned to Milan to follow a tailored rehabilitation program.

AdvertisementGetty ImagesAllegri explains Leao substitution and injury updates

Speaking to media after the match, Allegri clarified that Leao’s substitution was a precautionary move, saying: "He had a hip problem. Then at the end of the first half he wasn’t feeling great, so I decided to take him off anyway because the team needed fresh players. Rafa wasn’t getting going, so I decided to take him off."

Allegri also provided updates on striker Santiago Gimenez and defender Pervis Estupinan, both of whom have been managing knocks. “Gimenez is a bit of a knock, we’ll see about Leao, but it shouldn’t be anything special. We should also have Estupinan against Roma. These are ten days where we need to grit our teeth a bit, and then after the break we’ll start again with all the players.

“We’re having a few injuries at this point, but the team is responding well. The lads should be happy with their performance in Bergamo.”

Allegri reflects on Milan’s display against Atalanta

The game at the New Balance Arena began brightly for Milan, as Samuele Ricci’s deflected half-volley put them ahead in the fourth minute. However, Atalanta struck back through Ademola Lookman’s powerful finish in the 35th minute and the sides could not be separated over the second-half and left with a point each.

The Milan boss admitted frustration over his side’s first-half errors but was pleased with the team’s response after the break. “We were forced to defend because we made a lot of technical mistakes on outbound balls. The second half was a good one, with plenty of chances to score. We made bad decisions in the final 20 meters, where we absolutely must improve,” Allegri stated.

Despite conceding what he called an “avoidable goal,” Allegri saw encouraging signs in Milan’s approach. “We need to improve our scoring percentage and our passing choices in the final 20 meters. This team needs to be more confident than they are. The lads should be happy with their performance in Bergamo. We’re extending our positive streak.”

Atalanta, who pressed aggressively throughout, forced several crucial saves from Mike Maignan as Milan managed to hold firm under pressure.

AFPLeao’s season form and Milan’s Serie A outlook

Leao’s early exit overshadowed what has been an efficient start to the campaign. With three starts and four goals across all competitions since his return from injury, he has been central to Milan’s attacking output, thriving in a role closer to goal and showcasing improved efficiency. His fitness will be key as Allegri’s side faces a crucial stretch of fixtures before the international break.

The draw in Bergamo marked Milan’s second consecutive stalemate, following another 2-2 result against Pisa. With Napoli and Roma both in strong form, Milan’s margin for error is shrinking. However, the Rossoneri remain well-placed in second with 18 points from nine games, a solid foundation as they continue to rebuild under Allegri’s system.

“Now on Sunday we have a good match against Roma,” Allegri said. “We need to grit our teeth, stay compact, and finish this run of matches strongly before the break.”

Attention now turns to Sunday’s high-powered encounter against Roma at San Siro. Allegri is optimistic about having both Leao and Gimenez available for selection, with further medical tests confirming that the winger’s hip issue is minor. The upcoming fixture carries major implications in the Serie A title race, with Milan hoping to close the gap on Napoli and maintain pressure on Roma and Inter.

Real Betis v Nottingham Forest: Hosts without UCL winner Isco and 2 others

Nottingham Forest are preparing for their Europa League campaign and may now have been given a triple boost as they gear up to take on Real Betis on Wednesday.

Nottingham Forest show solidity after chaotic Ange Postecoglou induction

Ange Postecoglou isn’t someone who fails to entertain, and his side have shown excitement and vulnerability in equal measure over the first three matches of his tenure at the City Ground.

Following a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal, his side began to show some of their offensive prowess against Swansea City last midweek, albeit the Tricky Trees were knocked out of the EFL Cup in extraordinary fashion after surrendering a two-goal lead.

After two defeats, Turf Moor was never an easy place to go as Burnley look to stabilise themselves in the Premier League. Nevertheless, Nottingham Forest put in a performance that has bred some optimism among supporters of what could be to come.

Fundamentally, Postecoglou’s emphasis on performance is something he believes can breed results. The Tricky Trees took on 17 shots and bossed proceedings with 63% possession against Scott Parker’s men, indicating that improvement is slowly seeping into his group of players as they work within his system.

Murillo could return for Nottingham Forest’s trip to face Real Betis on Wednesday, offering another encouraging crumb of comfort as things slowly start to come together for the Australian boss.

Evidently, his reign at the club is a work in progress and results may not come imminently. Still, the former Celtic boss won the Europa League last season with Nottingham Forest, so it is fair to say he knows how to get a result in continental competition.

Heading into the beginning of their European campaign, there could be another boost in store for the East Midlands-based outfit if developments elsewhere are to stand.

Isco could miss Real Betis vs Nottingham Forest

According to reports in Spain via Sport Witness, Real Betis playmaker Isco could be ruled out of facing Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after missing training on Monday.

The four-time Champions League winner has been absent since August and may be joined by Nelson Deossa and Pablo García after the pair also sat on the sidelines while their teammates prepare to face Premier League opposition.

Not just Luiz: Ange must now start "menacing" Nottingham Forest sensation

La Liga outfit Betis sit sixth in the Spanish top-flight after six matches and claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad last Friday, earning an extended rest period ahead of opening their Europa League account.

Boasting plenty of familiar faces, such as Antony, Giovani Lo Celso and Hector Bellerin, they have plenty of stars who have enjoyed distinguished careers in England.

Regardless, Isco is one of the finest playmakers in Europe when fully fit, meaning his absence would elevate Nottingham Forest’s chances of claiming something at Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Amorim must unleash "unplayable" Man Utd star who can be the new Juan Mata

Manchester United will travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon to take on one of their biggest rivals, Liverpool. It is the chance for Ruben Amorim’s side to finally win back-to-back games under the Portuguese boss for the first time, but it will be tough.

United’s record away to the Reds in the last decade or so has been abysmal. They haven’t won at Anfield since the end of the 2015/16 campaign. That day, Wayne Rooney’s strike was the only thing that separated the two sides.

The season before, Juan Mata’s heroics secured all three points for the Red Devils.

Looking back on ‘Juanfield’

One of the most iconic trips to Anfield in recent history for United was certainly the 2014/15 clash. The Red Devils were victorious thanks to Mata’s two goals, which led supporters to lovingly dub the game as ‘Juanfield’ after the Spanish midfielder.

It was a superb performance from the former United number eight. He gave his side the lead with a right-footed strike in the first half in front of the Kop, poking the ball past Simon Mignolet less than a quarter of an hour into the game.

His second goal will always be the one that stands out. Mata doubled United’s lead with a fantastic scissor kick, checking his run before executing the acrobatic effort to perfection.

His strike nestled into the bottom left corner to put the Red Devils 2-0 up. MUTV commentator Stewart Gardner said it was “one of the great United goals at Anfield.”

Despite Daniel Sturridge’s strike, which pulled a goal back for the home side, it was always going to be hard for Liverpool to get back into the game. Steven Gerrard was infamously sent off at the start of the second half, just 38 seconds after entering the fray.

It was a win that will live long in the memory for United, with Mata’s brilliance off the right-hand side the reason why they secured the victory. Amorim has a player of his own who could replace the heroics of ‘Juanfield’.

Amorim can unleash his own Juan Mata

Despite another poor start to the season, United do have attackers who can hurt the opposition.

Bruno Fernandes is always a threat, although he is playing in a pivot. Matheus Cunha scored at Anfield last season, and Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko are in fine goalscoring form.

However, the key man for United this weekend could be Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroonian star has shown great promise in his short Red Devils career so far, with two goals and one assist across eight games in all competitions, replicating Mata in operating off that right flank and cutting in onto his favoured left foot.

The 26-year-old has built up a strong reputation with fans and pundits alike. Former United academy player turned MUTV commentator Ben Thornley said last season that he is “unplayable” for a lot of defenders.

This could see him cause problems for Liverpool’s left-back, although it is unclear if that will be Milos Kerkez or Andy Robertson. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate have also shown defensive frailties this season.

On top of that, Mbeumo knows what it takes to score past the Reds.

He did so as a Brentford player back in 2022/23, running in behind the Liverpool defence, latching a long pass ahead of Konate and slotting the ball past Allison.

It would be excellent for United if Mbeumo can replicate his performance that day.

The Cameroon star was imperious, creating two chances, making five ball recoveries and, of course, getting a late third goal in a 3-1 win.

A win at Anfield on Saturday would be huge for Amorim. Not only would it be back-to-back three points in the top flight, but a win at one of their biggest rivals for 10 years, which would be a huge achievement for the Portuguese boss.

How he would love Mbeumo to recreate the heroics of ‘Juanfield’ this weekend, and earn United a huge three points.

Not Saka: Arsenal have future England hero who's "humiliating" PL stars

While Arsenal fans will have to wait another week to watch their team again, they did get to see Bukayo Saka shine on the international stage again on Thursday.

The Hale End icon started for England in a friendly against Wales, and made it quite clear that the right-wing position is his for club and country.

The Welsh could not handle him at all, and just 20 minutes into the game, he scored a sensational curling effort that was the best strike on the night.

Saka will undoubtedly have a significant role to play for England at the World Cup next year, but there is another Arsenal gem who could go on to be an even bigger national team star in the years to come.

The Arsenal players who could be at the World Cup

Sticking with Saka for a moment, and so long as he remains fit, it’s almost impossible to imagine England’s World Cup squad without him being in it next summer.

The 24-year-old has twice been named the nation’s Player of the Year, has already amassed 45 caps, in which he’s scored 21 goal involvements, and Thursday was just a reminder of how influential he can be at this level.

With that said, there will likely be a handful of Arsenal players who make it on the plane next year, chief among them being Declan Rice.

The £105m man won his 69th cap against Wales, and more crucially, wore the captain’s armband in Harry Kane’s absence.

Therefore, so long as he remains fit and keeps up his brilliant form for the rest of the season, he should not only be on the plane to Mexico, Canada and the USA, but in the starting lineup for every game.

Someone who should have little concern about making it on the plane, but whose place in the lineup is not guaranteed, is Eberechi Eze.

The former Crystal Palace star has just 13 senior caps to his name, but has become a constant in squads over the last couple of years and offers something from the middle of the park and out wide.

The final player from Mikel Arteta’s side who stands a realistic chance of making it to the World Cup, but could still miss out if he doesn’t start getting more gametime, is Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Thomas Tuchel has made it abundantly clear he rates the youngster, giving him his first start, in which he scored. However, with Riccardo Calafiori, the current first choice at the Emirates, he could see his place with the Three Lions going to someone else.

With all that said, there is another Arsenal gem who almost certainly won’t be going to the World Cup, but may well become one of England’s biggest stars in a few years.

The Arsenal gem destined to become an England superstar

Now, with all the players already mentioned, some of you might be thinking the gem in question is Ethan Nwaneri, and while he might also become a star for the national team, it’s not him.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

Instead, the Arsenal gem who seems destined to become a superstar for England is, of course, Max Dowman.

The 15-year-old is one of the most talked-about academy prospects in the game right now, and for very good reason.

It feels more like a matter of when, not if, he’s starting week in, week out, in the Premier League and Champions League.

After all, while this all sounds somewhat hyperbolic, respected talent scout Jacek Kulig described the teenage gem as the “most exciting prospect” he had seen “since Lamine Yamal”, which is really saying something considering the Spaniard just finished second in the Ballon d’Or at 18 years old.

It’s an opinion that doesn’t look too crazy when looking back at the youngster’s numbers from last season, either, as in 23 appearances, totalling 1945 minutes, he scored 19 times and provided five assists, which comes out to an average of 1.04 goal involvements per match, or one every 81.04 minutes.

Moreover, despite still being only 15 years old, the Chelmsford-born dynamo is already playing for England’s U19 side, having made three appearances and provided one assist.

During his time with the U17s, he scored five goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances, totalling 953 minutes.

Finally, if the incredible prospect had only played junior football up until this point, there would be an argument that everyone is getting a bit carried away. However, he has now played for the Gunners’ first team and looked brilliant.

For example, he won a penalty against Newcastle United in pre-season and then against Leeds United in the league a month later, which led to analyst Ben Mattinson claiming he “hasn’t even done his GCSE’s but he’s humiliating Premier League players.”

Ultimately, it might take a couple of years before he has a proper go in the senior side, but with how well he’s playing this year and with what those in the know are saying, there is every chance Dowman can become Arsenal’s greatest ever England player.

Liam Rosenior slams referee over costly Strasbourg red card ahead of last-minute defeat to Lyon

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has slammed the referee's decision to send off Ismael Doukoure in Strasbourg's 2-1 defeat to Lyon in Ligue 1. The manager claims that the official "judged based on the injury" to Malick Fofana, who was stretchered off, rather than the tackle. The red card proved costly, as a stoppage time goal snatched the win for Lyon.

  • Rosenior: 'Referee judged on the injury, not the action'

Rosenior was left furious after Doukoure was sent off in the 67th minute for a tackle on Fofana. Referee Eric Wattellier initially deemed the tackle worthy of only a yellow card. However, the official was instructed to review the play by the video assistant referee. After checking the pitch-side monitor, Wattellier reversed his initial decision and brandished a red card, reducing Strasbourg to 10 men for the final 23 minutes of the match.

The loss of the defender, who had scored an own goal to give Lyon an equaliser in the first half, proved costly as a late strike from Afonso Moreira consigned the visitors to a last-gasp defeat at the Groupama Stadium.

The Strasbourg boss was adamant that the match was swung by poor officiating, focusing on the decision to dismiss Doukoure. Rosenior argued that Wattellier was incorrectly influenced by the severity of the subsequent injury to Lyon's Fofana, rather than the nature of the foul itself.

"There were two fairly clear decisions that put us in a difficult situation. I don't think there was a red card," Rosenior stated. "For me, it was an unlucky action. I don't want to see injured players on the pitch, but the referee judged based on the injury, not the action. It wasn't a dangerous tackle."

  • Lyon fear serious Fofana injury

The challenge left Fofana in significant distress, and the Lyon winger had to be stretchered off the pitch. He was subsequently taken to hospital for further tests amid fears of a major injury.

Lyon's assistant coach, Jorge Maciel, expressed deep concern in his post-match press conference. "He's having X-rays, but for now, we don't really know. Looking at the images, it's not very reassuring," Maciel said. "The ankle, but perhaps also the tibia and fibula, are affected. There's uncertainty, and that's why he's having tests."

  • Late Moreira strike sinks 10-man Strasbourg

The red card was the decisive moment in what had been a difficult afternoon for Doukoure. Strasbourg had initially taken the lead in the 25th minute through Joaquin Panichelli.

Lyon responded just six minutes later, equalising via a disastrous own goal from Doukoure in the 31st minute. Following the defender's dismissal, the match appeared to be heading for a draw, but Strasbourg's 10 men finally buckled in stoppage time with Moreira finding the net to steal all three points for the hosts.

Despite Lyon dominating possession with 59 per cent, the match was a tight affair with few clear chances. Lyon registered just four shots, two on target, while Strasbourg managed five shots, also with two on target.

What next for Strasbourg and Lyon?

The result has significant ramifications for the Ligue 1 table. Lyon's victory propels them into the Champions League qualification spots, moving them up to fourth with 18 points after nine matches.

For Strasbourg, the defeat sees them drop to seventh on 16 points, stalling their push for a European place. Rosenior's side must now prepare for their next fixture without the suspended Doukoure. Lyon, meanwhile, face an anxious wait for the results of Fofana's X-rays, fearing a long-term lay-off for their winger.

Strasbourg are in action again on Wednesday when they take on an Auxerre side sitting second bottom of the table while Lyon face 11th-placed Paris FC.

Leeds ace who's been a "massive signing" would walk into Bielsa's best team

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke is slowly showing supporters and the wider footballing community that he has what it takes to manage in the Premier League.

It is hard to blame anyone for having doubts over whether or not the German tactician could lead a team to safety in the top-flight, given his record in the division with Norwich City.

As you can see in the table above, Farke won six of his 49 matches in charge of the Canaries in the Premier League before he was sacked after 11 games in the 2021/22 campaign.

However, he has been backed financially in a way that he was not at Carrow Road, which has allowed the Whites to enjoy a solid start to the season.

The West Yorkshire outfit are 15th in the table with eight points in seven games after two wins, two draws, and three defeats, which is a respectable return for the newly-promoted outfit.

Farke is now hoping to emulate the success that Marcelo Bielsa had in the top-flight in the 2020/21 campaign after his side were promoted to the big time.

Ranking Marcelo Bielsa's best Leeds United teams

The Argentine head coach initially joined the club in the summer of 2018 and led the team to a third-placed finish in the Championship, but watched his team lose to Derby County in the semi-finals of the play-offs.

It was a terrific first season at Elland Road for Bielsa, even if it ended in disappointment for the club in the play-offs, but the best was yet to come for the manager.

In the 2019/20 campaign, Leeds racked up 93 points with 28 wins and nine draws in the Championship, ten more points than they managed in the previous season, to earn promotion to the Premier League and the second tier title.

It is, therefore, fair to say that Bielsa’s team in his second season was better than the one he had in his first, as they won ten more points to earn promotion.

However, that promotion-winning team was not the best side that the Argentine tactician had during his time at Elland Road, because of what was achieved in the Premier League the following season.

As you can see in the table above, Leeds were fun to watch as a free-scoring newly-promoted side that fired their way to a top-half finish in the top-flight, which turned out to be Bielsa’s best achievement in his time in West Yorkshire.

He was sacked after picking up 23 points from 26 Premier League games in the 2021/22 season, which should rank as his worst team, followed by his first season, then his second one, and the ninth-placed finish in the top-flight as his best side.

The team in the graphic above was his most-used starting line-up in the 2020/21 campaign in the 4-1-4-1 formation, including stars like Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.

With Farke and his team looking to emulate the success that Bielsa’s team had in their first season in the big time, would any of the club’s current stars make it into that best XI?

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

As good as Luke Ayling was, and as much as he was a terrific servant for the Whites, there is a case to be made for Jayden Bogle walking into that Bielsa side in the 2020/21 campaign on current form.

Why Jayden Bogle would walk into Marcelo Bielsa's best team

There were some question marks raised over the English full-back’s ability to make the step up to the Premier League this season, because of the Sheffield United team that he was a part of in the 2023/24 season.

Bogle played 34 of his side’s 38 league matches at right-back as the Blades conceded a staggering 104 goals, per Sofascore, the most by any team in a 38-game top-flight season.

However, the 25-year-old star’s start to the current campaign suggests that he is more than capable of delivering quality performances in the Premier League, winning the club’s Player of the Month award for August.

Bogle has started all seven of the club’s matches in the Premier League this season and Leeds rank fifth in the division for xGA (7.9), per FBref, which shows that he is currently part of one of the best defensive units in the division.

Whereas, as aforementioned, Leeds were 16th in the top-flight for xGA with Ayling as their first-choice right-back in Bielsa’s best team at Elland Road.

As you can see in the table above, Bogle’s current defensive numbers topple Ayling’s in the 2020/21 campaign, which may be part of the reason why Farke’s defence is performing better than Bielsa’s did.

On top of that, Ayling did not deliver any assists in that season in the Premier League, which means that Bogle’s current lack of assists in the top-flight should not go against him in this debate.

The former Blades star, who was dubbed “sensational” and a “massive signing” by pundit Micah Richards earlier this year, also delivered more goals and assists combined (ten) last term than Ayling did in the 2019/20 promotion-winning season (eight), per Sofascore, which suggests that he has more potential to excel as an attacking force.

Therefore, there is a genuine case to be made that the 25-year-old star is good enough in the present day to walk into Bielsa’s best team in the ninth-placed Premier League finish.

The new Phillips: Leeds star has made effortless transition to PL life

This Leeds United star has made an effortless transition to the Premier League in the same way that Kalvin Phillips did.
