Tottenham Hotspur fans reminisce about Kane’s past goals

Harry Kane has transformed into Tottenham Hotspur’s talisman over the last few years.

The striker has gone from strength to strength in front of goal having picked up the Golden Boot in the last two seasons.

In the 2015-16 campaign, the England international was the Premier League’s top scorer with 25 goals and last season he improved his tally to 29.

As it stands, Kane is second to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the list for the 2017-18 term as he has found the back of the net 12 times, one fewer than his opponent.

Today, Tottenham decided to remind fans that on December 15 six years ago, Kane netted his first goal for the club.

Since that day, the forward has gone on to score a further 116 times in all competitions.

This season, the hitman has racked up 18 goals for the North London outfit, five of which have come in his last six outings.

The club’s tweet gave fans an opportunity to marvel at their key player.

Marcelo Bielsa should bring next Harry Kewell to Elland Road following Man City’s £280k deal

The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling optimistic about their club’s future under Marcelo Bielsa, and recent reports have given them reason to believe a rising Australian talent could be available to sign this summer.

The Breakdown

Leeds United’s most recent era of success arrived in the late 90s and early 2000s when the likes of Mark Viduka, Alan Smith and Harry Kewell injected attacking spark and provided entertaining football for the Whites faithful on the terraces at Elland Road. The latter was blessed with a phenomenal technique which is typical of left-footed players, and it’s fair to say that Leeds have been lacking the presence of a player of Kewell’s quality in the past two decades.

However, if Bielsa plays his cards right in the transfer market Leeds could sign a player who is widely regarded as the next Harry Kewell, particularly in Australia namely, Melbourne City’s 19-year-old winger Daniel Arzani – a player who has established a glowing reputation in the past twelve months for his performances in the A-League.

At the end of his first full campaign as a senior player, Arzani was selected for the Australia World Cup squad in Russia where he made 3 cameo appearances of the substitutes bench.

Now that he has returned from international duty it seems that he is set to take another significant step in his career by completing a deal to join Manchester City for just £280,000, according to SBS (via CityWatch).

His transfer to the Etihad will precede a loan move to Dutch partner club NAC Breda or Club Brugge, according to the same report.

But with no loan deal yet in place there’s still time for Marcelo Bielsa to step in and ask his old friend Pep Guardiola to send the teenager to Elland Road this summer.

It’s difficult to judge whether Arzani has the ability to become a success in English football or not based on his short career so far; whilst he has demonstrated dazzling skill and confidence to take on his opposite number in Australia, his end-product has been lacking somewhat – 2 goals and 3 assists from 16 appearances suggest he has plenty to improve upon.

But in an environment where he would be forced to challenge himself and under a manager of Bielsa’s expertise, Arzani could begin to blossom into the calibre of player which has provoked spectators to draw comparisons between him and Harry Kewell since he broke onto the scene in Australia.

There’s no doubt Bielsa would be taking a risk in signing Arzani this summer, but with almost no financial implication involved in completing a loan deal it’s one which is well worth taking.

Tottenham fans are loving Bruce’s Grealish admission

Tottenham fans are getting excited about their summer swoop for Jack Grealish, after Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce confirmed the youngster’s impending exit.

He may have only scored three Championship goals last season, but Spurs fans are feeling optimistic about the links to Villa’s Grealish.

The Championship club will have to sell several first team players to stave off financial trouble, and Bruce has now confirmed Grealish will be one of the players to leave.

“He is a special talent, a real special talent, and yes, you don’t want to lose him but the inevitable thing is we have to,” Bruce told Sky Sports.

“We have to – to keep the club up and running and keep it in line with Financial Fair Play.”

The 21 year-old has fantastic ball carrying ability, and while he would certainly not be a replacement for the more defensive Mousa Dembele, he would replace some of what the Belgian brings to the table, dribbling the ball forward from midfield.

While Bruce does not confirm Spurs will be the team to sign the 22 year-old, Mauricio Pochettino’s record with young English talent is expected to lure the Villa star to North London, where he will hope to follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli.

Newcastle fans doubt De Arrascaeta deal

According to The Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Cruzeiro playmaker Giorgian De Arrascaeta in this summer’s transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who turned out for Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup, has scored 40 times in 159 appearances for Cruzeiro since a 2015 move from Defensor Sporting.

The attacking midfielder has a contract with his Brazilian club until the summer of 2021, but it is understood that he could be available for £18m.

Newcastle’s club record for a transfer still stands at the £16m that they paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen in 2005, which does seem quite incredible in this day and age.

It is unlikely that Magpies boss Rafael Benitez will have bundles of cash to spend this summer, and the club’s supporters – who have also commented on a potential deal for Swansea City’s Andre Ayew – have doubted a deal for De Arrascaeta due to the money involved.

Indeed, a whole host of Newcastle fans have been on social media effectively ruling their club out of a deal for the talented South American.

United fans react as Sanchez fails to fly out for pre-season tour

Manchester United fans on Twitter were left worrying after Alexis Sanchez was not on the plane for the club’s pre-season tour in America, with no announcement made by United as to why.

The 29-year-old winger had the summer off after Chile’s failure to qualify for the World Cup so his no-show at the airport confused United fans further.

However, The Sun have reported that Sanchez will fly out separately at a later date to link up with his United teammates in Los Angeles, thanks to being given a specific pre-season regime by Jose Mourinho to ensure he is at peak fitness as the season starts.

This is all because, although he had this summer off, Sanchez had played for Chile in each of the last four summer breaks from the Premier League. The winger seemed to show signs of fatigue towards the end of last season, as he made a slow start by his standards to life at Old Trafford following his move from Arsenal.

With no clue as to why he wasn’t on the plane though, United fans were initially left to worry about Sanchez’s future. Check out some of their best tweets here.

West Brom must take this chance to force a James Chester return

According to the Daily Mail, Steve Bruce’s imminent exit from Villa Park could be the deciding factor in James Chester’s own departure from the club.

According to the report, Thierry Henry’s agreement to take up the hot seat at Aston Villa could have an impact on current transfer dealings involving the club’s players.

Stoke are cited to have an interest in signing Chester, but the uncertainty surrounding the future at Villa Park could slow any progressing negotiations down.

With the 29-year-old centre-back’s situation now up in the air, an opportunity for other clubs to pounce for his signature may have presented itself. West Brom ought to take advantage of this confusion to make a move for the Wales international.

The Breakdown

Since Chester left the Hawthorns in the summer of 2016 – after only a single season with the Baggies, in which he was on the fringes of the first team – he has developed significantly as a defender.

Playing alongside John Terry in the heart of the Villa back line last time out saw Chester’s leadership and authority come to the fore. He is now the kind of calm and collected organiser that Darren Moore’s depleted squad is in dire need of.

Moore is in the process of conducting a major squad overhaul during this transfer window, and the rebuild of his defensive unit requires the recruitment of a new rock to anchor the heart of his back line.

Given the exodus of playing staff that the recently relegated club have endured this summer, this chance to hijack a move to bring in a player of Chester’s experience and quality can’t be missed.

Replacing Lloris with Donnarumma would be just so Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are yet to make a single move in the transfer window thus far.

Spurs ended the season in third, securing Champions League football at their new home next season. Mauricio Pochettino has not felt the need to spend in the window thus far and has not made a signing this summer. Instead, Tottenham have secured long-term contracts for Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son, Harry Winks and Davinson Sanchez. Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are also set to commit their future to the club.

Despite Pochettino being happy with his squad, he may be forced into signing a goalkeeper if captain Hugo Lloris leaves the club. After Alisson Becker joined Liverpool, Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention to the Frenchman to replace Keylor Navas according to reports. Should he depart, Tottenham will need a replacement quickly with less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window.

The ideal replacement would be AC Milan wonderkid – Gianluigi Donnarumma. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Italian has emerged as one of the world’s best goalkeepers after breaking into the Milan first-team as a 16-year-old. He made 38 appearances in the Serie A last season, keeping 12 clean sheets.

Landing Donnarumma would be a huge statement of intent to their Premier League rivals. Under Pochettino’s tutelage, he would become an even better goalkeeper than he already is. At just 19-years-old, Spurs wouldn’t need to worry about signing a goalkeeper for the next decade.

Losing Lloris would be a huge blow but securing Donnarumma’s signature would help Tottenham fans quickly forget about the World Cup winner.

Crystal Palace landing £36m-rated goal-machine would guarantee PL survival

Crystal Palace appear to be finally making some inroads in the transfer market with the arrival of Max Meyer reportedly on the horizon, but a recent report from RMC Sport (via The Sun) suggests that they may fall short in their bid to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan this summer.

According to the report, Maurizio Sarri has told Batshuayi that he has a role to play at Chelsea and will not be allowed to leave this summer.

It appears that the arrival of Chelsea’s new chief could give Batshuayi a second bite at the cherry next season, however, Palace should not give up on their pursuit even though recent reports suggest they could struggle to sign the Belgium international.

First and foremost, Palace need a goal-scoring striker and that’s exactly what Batshuayi is, as he demonstrated during a short-term loan spell with Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.

The 24-year-old striker (valued at £36 million by Transfermarkt) hit the ground running in the Bundesliga at the spearhead of Dortmund’s attack by netting 7 goals from 10 appearances for the club before an injury ruled him out of contention towards the end of the campaign.

His clinical record is exactly the type of strike rate which Palace will need next season following Christian Benteke’s abysmal run season and, if they could convince him to move to Selhurst Park with the promise of regular first-team football, there’s no doubt they would take a massive step towards ensuring their survival.

In stark contrast to the static Benteke, Batshuayi would provide mobility in the final-third which should enable Hodgson to form an electric front-three with Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend playing either side of him in wide positions.

Recent reports may suggest that Batshuayi has a role to play at Chelsea, but exactly how big will that role be?

If Sarri entrusts Morata to start the season as the club’s number nine striker then Bathsuayi will certainly be tempted by the prospect of a loan move away from the club and, if that proves to be the case, Palace should be on hand to secure a season-defining acquisition.

Leeds fans stunned by incredible Saiz

Loads of Leeds fans have been giving their verdict on the rampant win at Derby, and they just can’t get enough of Samuel Saiz.

Marcelo Bielsa’s perfect start at Leeds continued on Saturday night, as he watched his side dismantle Frank Lampard’s Derby, 4-1.

Mateusz Klich was on the scoresheet again, Kemar Roofe found his finishing touch and Pablo Hernandez was his usual self, but it was Saiz that really stole the limelight.

The little Spaniard was absolutely everywhere, popping up in various attacking positions to link up play and get his side on the front foot.

While he didn’t pick up any goals or assists, the 27 year-old took four shots, complete two key passes and an incredible five dribbles.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”278155″ player=”12034″ title=”Every Transfer Window EVER”]

Bielsa’s side were pressing like maniacs, but without the quality to string attacks together it would all be for nothing.

Saiz has that quality in abundance, and fans are heaping praise on his phenomenal performance against their arch-rivals.

Bielsa didn’t make loads of signings this summer, but if he can get Saiz playing that consistently, it might just be the best move he makes.
